Chiu-Chen Liu

A native of Taiwan, violist Chiu-Chen Liu came to the United Sates in
1997 to attend The Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division where she was the top prizewinner of the 1998 concerto competition.
The following year, Ms. Liu entered Temple University, was a member of the Haddonfield Symphony ( 1999-2001 ), and appeared with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. In 2002, Ms. Liu was accepted at the Mannes College, where she performed as principle violist with The Mannes Orchestra on various concerts during 2002-2009. As an active chamber musician, she has performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Museum, the Morgan Library and Taos School of Music. She was a recipient of the LCU foundation award and F&H Herman scholarship. She has studied with members from the Guarneri string quartet, the Brentano string quartet, the Borromeo string qua rtet and Shanghai string quartet, and performed in Master classes with Kim Kashkashian, Michael Tree, and Misha Amory. Ms. Liu is currently a Professional Studies Diploma candidate at Mannes College, where she studies with Hsin-Yun Huang and Laurie Smukler.
