Daniel Adams

 

 

Known for his heartfelt and sincere musical voice, Daniel Adams, violist, has performed as soloist and chamber musician in concert halls across the USA, Canada, and Europe, appearing at prestigious music festivals such as Le Domaine Forget, Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, the Sarasota Music Festival, the Perlman Music Program, SpoletoUSA, and Encore. In an orchestral role, Adams has served in leadership positions in ensembles such as fourbythree, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, the Perlman Music Program Orchestra, I Solisti Vivaldi, the NC School of the Arts Symphony, and the Young Artists Chamber Orchestra. He was a featured performer at the XXXII International Viola Congress in Minneapolis, and was awarded third-prize in the 2005 Ray Millete Young Artist Competition. A native of Florida, Adams began his musical studies, as a violist, in his elementary school's string orchestra program at the age of 10, and later attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, the world-renowned "Young Artist Program" of the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Juilliard School, where he is currently a student of Heidi Castleman and Misha Amory. Adams' former teachers and mentors include Jeffrey Irvine, Ulrich Eichenauer, Laurice Buckton, and members of the Cavani, Chicago, Cleveland, Juilliard, and Mendelssohn String Quartets. He has been honored by scholarships and grants from Le Domaine Forget, the Garett Albert Special Fund of the Juilliard School, the Perlman Music Program, the Semans Fund, and the NC School of the Arts. In addition to his musical work, Adams is a third year bachelor's degree candidate in socio-cultural anthropology at Columbia University. An avid skiier, he is a member of the Columbia University Alpine Racing Team.
